Design Studio @ Société Générale

Ephemeo

Ephemeo is an ephemereal design studio two friends and I created during our last school year which was an apprenticeship. For our first jobs, we didn't want to simply answer basic job descriptions for generic web designer roles where we feared we wouldn't be able to fully bring all our skills to the table. So we created our own job descriptions through this small agency, and pitched it to big companies. All the companies were pretty surprised, many were sceptic and even a few laughed at us. But one company – Societe General, a pretty huge banking company – embraced our idea and decided to hire us 3 and try things out our way. We set up shop on their innovation space called "Le Plateau" where internal projects and startups as well as external startups incubated there meet.

The context

My two designer friends and I had a catalog of offers and services we could provide to both teams within Societe Generale and startups incubated there. We mostly helped the former with design thinking workshops, ideation or even user -centric design training, and the latter with branding, user research, audits of their products and conception of new flows and even business design.

The missions

I had the opportunity to work with different startups from within and outside the fintech universe on problems such as helping create and refine product and services, defining value proposition and making it obvious to end users, set-up long term vision and values to establish a brand, as well as user research and user testing. We also intervened on many different projects with Societe Generale's collaborators as consultants helping from the initial brief to the final deliverables.

This diversity in projects and missions was really interesting and allowed us 3 to both immerse in the banking sector and dive deep into experts problems while still working on surface level products and services, helping surface their value to end users.
